Media Lario designs and manufacture optical systems for Earth Observation satellites. All systems rely on our years of experience in producing high specification optical systems for space. Media Lario optics are operating in space now and have been doing so for three decades.
Optical Elements
Media Lario manufactures mirrors and lenses for satellite optical systems. Materials range from glass to metals, aluminium or other, to our Repli-formed Optics™ process which can make high specification mirrors in only a few hours time and is suitable for high volumes. Our experience in optical diameters ranges from 90mm up to 1200mm (1.2 meters). We manufacture spherical and aspherical designs and shape complexity is generally no issue for us.
Optical Systems
Media Lario also designs and produces telescopes for satellites, typically for earth observation or astronomical applications. Designs range from on-axis partially obscured, such as Ritchey-Chrétien, to unobscured systems such as TMA (Three-Mirror Anastigmat) designs. Internally we have designed several TMA systems for earth observation as well as for point-to-point optical communications and other applications.
Payloads
Media Lario has also produced payload systems for integration in satellite platforms. Most recently we have completed a 200 mm aperture unobscured Three-Mirror Anastigmat (TMA) system for multispectral use. Known as STREEGO, the system can deliver 2.5m GSD resolution from a 550 km orbit. A hyperspectral version is available with a fully programmable band selection from the ground control system. Additionally, high-rate 10-to-1 lossless data compression is available as an option to assist with the data loads generated by high resolution mutlispectral images.
